A donut on the radio?

Regular radio stations use “donuts” regularly! What is a “donut?” A donut is used for short announcements and advertisements. The donut usually starts with a jingle that is sung, has a space for the announcer to add the time sensitive information, then closes with a sung jingle.

Donuts on RadioDAVE?

Yes! We have donuts on RadioDAVE! Near the top of each hour, you can hear a donut. It begins with singing, “Radio’s Classic Hits!”, then a short announcement over a musical pad, finishing with “RadioDAVE, America!” There are about a dozen different “fillings” for the donut. The system randomly selects one of the dozen choices each hour.

These top-of-the-hour announcements mirror a legal requirement of your local radio station. While RadioDAVE isn’t bound to the station identification announcement (like your local radio station), we recognize that the station ID pattern is familiar to listeners – so we identify!
